The commitment is one of the most generous eligibility thresholds in the nation and it underscores Mount Holyoke鈥檚 long-standing investment in access and affordability. The announcement comes at a time when many families are increasingly worried about affording college; a 2025 survey by the Lumina Foundation, in partnership with Gallup, found that nearly two-thirds of Americans don鈥檛 think a college education is accessible to most people.

The Mount Holyoke Commitment is part of MHC鈥檚 longstanding pledge to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for undergraduate students. It stems from the College鈥檚 mission to break down barriers to an excellent liberal arts education, particularly for those who have historically been excluded from opportunity. MHC continues to meet the full demonstrated need for all U.S. families above this income threshold and offers competitive merit scholarships in addition to need-based financial aid.
