I was hoping to become fluent in Spanish. I was also hoping to become more independent and learn to put myself out there and feel confident in a variety of situations. I accomplished both.
Through my year abroad, I developed the language capacity to research German/Polish relations since WWII and defend an honors thesis.
As a student at MHC, I had gained not only the foundations of my academic studies but I had the confidence and poise to approach these people and make valuable connections.
As an important actor for effective cultural preservation, I became more critical of "non-invasive" anthropological methods.

Mount Holyoke and the Biochemistry Department gave me the opportunities for me to grow and become the scientist I am today.
