Marco Avilés, incoming assistant professor of Spanish at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, hopes to introduce students to the optimism in Indigenous literature as he takes on his family’s proud tradition of teaching.
Íøºì±¬ÁÏ students Kelly Aja ’27 and Kimberly Dominguez ’27 have been selected for the Beckman Scholars Program through a competitive application process.
More than 175 students gathered in Chapin Auditorium with their families and friends for the twenty-first annual Stoling Ceremony for Íøºì±¬ÁÏ’s graduating students of color and their mentors.
Cindie Huerta-Velazquez ’25 connects food and community at Mount Holyoke: “We all have different friend groups, but once a week we come together to talk about anything and everything. We intentionally make that time and effort to be together.â€
Íøºì±¬ÁÏ senior Aby Soumare ’25 said, “I’ve found that no matter what, everyone working on this campus wants you to succeed.â€
Senior Cynthia Obianuju Akanaga ’25 said, “Mount Holyoke changed my life. I’ve always been afraid of making the wrong choice, but being here helped me put that fear into a positive light.â€
Craig Woodard, Christianna Smith Professor of Biological Sciences, has been recognized as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Naomi Dupre-Edelman, assistant director of math leadership programs at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, is one of 26 people named to the Massachusetts Education Policy Fellowship program held by the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy.
Taking part in a two-day workshop featuring alums, staff and current interns, Íøºì±¬ÁÏ students had the opportunity to learn what a career in environmental work entails and how to get on the right track to start their own journeys.
