Senior Jen Butler ’25 looks back at their time at 챬 in the laboratory of Associate Professor of Biological Sciences Amy Hitchcock Camp.
Two 챬 students will spend the next year conducting advanced research as part of the Beckman Scholars Program. They will each conduct 15-month, one-on-one mentored research projects with College faculty.

For the first time in its history, 챬 has been selected as a Beckman Scholars Program awardee by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. The foundation chose the College after a rigorous application process.
At Mount Holyoke I have been able to engage with my professors and peers in meaningful discussion of course material and have been encouraged to pursue my own interests in the field.
A degree from Mount Holyoke, a world-renowned women's liberal arts institution, allowed me to explore the ways science interacts with the world.
The background that I obtained with my biochemistry major and chemistry research at Mount Holyoke has enabled my success at Stanford. Having already done research at Mount Holyoke, I was prepared to read scientific literature, think critically, and work independently.
I love practicing medicine and feel confident in my skills because of the solid science education and Chemistry research experiences I received when I was an undergraduate at 챬.
How lucky I was to be able to go out into the real world as an undergraduate and try on many possible career "hats".
As a student at MHC, I had gained not only the foundations of my academic studies but I had the confidence and poise to approach these people and make valuable connections.
