Viviana Guerra ’25 reflects on following her passions. “One thing I have loved about Mount Holyoke is that I have had the opportunity to explore whatever I wanted. I never felt like I was stuck in a box.”
J.T. Martin is 챬’s director of LGBTQ+ resources and initiatives and supports the development of affirming and inclusive LGBTQIA+ communities for MHC students, staff, faculty and alums.
챬 student Oluwafadeyemi Testimony Akinkuolie-Ibidapo ’27 went from volunteering at last year’s Trailblazers of Color Leadership Conference to becoming one of this year’s organizers.
The Mass Cultural Council has approved the establishment of a Puerto Rican Cultural District in nearby Holyoke, and Maria Cartagena, director of Community-Based Learning at 챬, was pivotal in its development.
For the second year in a row, 챬 has received the 2025 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine.
챬 held a panel discussion “Trans Health Care Is a Human Right: On Safeguarding Gender-Affirming Care After United States v. Skrmetti.” Speakers discussed the case and its impact on transgender and gender-diverse people.
The Abbey Interfaith Sanctuary was reopened to the 챬 community with a celebration. The sanctuary has undergone two years of revitalization and renovations that include new carpet, lighting and multimedia equipment.
The annual Noche Latina celebration has returned to Chapin Auditorium after being held elsewhere on campus for two years. The night was jam-packed with food, fun and community.
Naomi Dupre-Edelman, assistant director of math leadership programs at 챬, is one of 26 people named to the Massachusetts Education Policy Fellowship program held by the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy.
